Academy Focke-Wulf Fw190A-6/8 WWII German Fighter
Focke-Wulf Fw190 first flew into the sky in 1939, and when it was put into live operation at the end of 1941, it immediately became a major threat to RAF fighters, as it was faster and more agile than the then-serving Spitfire V.
A-6 was developed to address the shortcomings identified in previous "A" models in the attack on American heavy bombers. A redesigned and lighter wing was introduced and normal armament was increased to two MG 17 machine guns and four 20 mm MG 151 / 20E wings and the outer wing of the cannon with larger ammunition boxes.
The A-8 entered production in February 1944, powered by either the standard BMW 801 D-2 or 801Q (also known as the 801TU). The changes introduced in the Fw 190 A-8 also included the Erhöhte Notleistung emergency booster system with C3 injection into the Fw 190 A fighter variant (a similar system with lower power was fitted to some earlier 190 A Jabovariants), which increases power to 1,980 hp (1,950 k; 1,460 kW) for 10 minutes. 10-minute emergency energy can be used up to three times per mission.
