Bf 109 is one of the most famous fighters of the German Luftwaffe used in World War II. Over 33,000 pieces have been produced in many different versions. The strengths of this aircraft were its climb and speed in a dive. In the summer of 1942, production of the Bf 109 G series began, which, compared to the previous version of the Bf 109 F, underwent noticeable changes. G-5 / G-6 was equipped with a cannon MK 151/20 mm with a muzzle right in the center of the propeller. Two MG 131 machine guns were placed above the engine. Due to the ammunition belts of the improved armament, the bonnet had to be aerodynamically modified, thanks to which the aircraft gained its typical "bulge". The G-6 was widely used on all fronts from March 1943 until the end of the war. Later production series Bf 109 G-6 added solid one-piece windows in the rear of the cabin, which significantly improved visibility to the rear. During further modifications, the tail rudder also changed, which was higher and had a larger area than in previous versions. With 13,000 machines produced, the G-6 version was the most common variant of the Bf 109.
